Diabetes Education

WHO ARE WE?

The Manitouwadge Diabetes Health & Wellness Program is funded and supported by the Northern Diabetes Health Network.

We provide diabetes education, counseling and support services for people with diabetes, their families and caregivers.

No referral is necessary.

We work as a team with you, your Physician, The Family Health Team, the Lab and Pharmacist.

Free Chiropody (foot care) services are available in Marathon.

We work in partnership with the CNIB Eye Van that visits Manitouwadge yearly.

We encourage healthy living and prevention of diabetes in the community by providing education and promoting public awareness.

GOALS OF OUR DIABETES PROGRAM

At our diabetes program, our goal is to help you live life to the fullest while managing your diabetes.         

We can help you maintain healthy blood sugar levels with a balanced meal plan, exercise, healthy lifestyle and medication & insulin for some.

We provide individual counseling in order to help you make decisions about self-care to suit your personal needs and lifestyle.

This may include home blood sugar testing, insulin injection, nutritional counseling and general advice on diabetes management.

We offer group education classes presented by our team throughout the year.  Various topics include foot care, heart health, label reading, carbohydrate counting.
