Welcome to our Diagnostic Imaging Department at the Manitouwadge General Hospital. Using state of the art equipment, we offer a wide variety of examinations to the community. Such diversified services in a rural community improve the quality of life for residents of Manitouwadge by reducing out of town medical appointments.
The X-Ray Department is equipped with CR which enables the X-Ray Technologists to send X-Ray images to the off site Radiologists via PACS (Picture Archive Communication System). The result is quick access to the images and the potential for a faster turn around time with reports. Each exam is read by a Radiologist. This is a great benefit to our patients. A portable x-ray machine is also available for those patients who cannot be brought to the x-ray room.
Our facility offers Bone Mineral Densitometry to the community as well as the region. This is the only system between Thunder Bay and Sault Ste Marie and is fantastic for our aging area populations.
The state of the art Ultrasound enables our Sonographers to provide the largest variety of exams on the North Shore including musculoskeletal examinations and Echocardiograms.
Adding to the list of aforementioned modalities is Spirometry (testing of lung functions) and Pure Tone Audiometry (hearing tests). Our staff performs both X-Ray and Ultrasound Exams, but do tend to specialize in specific areas to achieve superior results for the benefit of our residents.
