A Message from the SMH Board Chair

Santé Manitouwadge Health has faced many challenges. Most of these challenges go unnoticed because the people who come here and fit in well here see themselves as belonging here. For them, SMH is more than the place they come to work. It is their hospital, and they have taken on the mission of being responsible for keeping SMH moving like a well-cared for machine.

 In December 2023, SMH went through another challenge. The sense of ownership felt by our people allowed for a nearly seamless transition from Deb Hardy as CEO to Annie Janveau as Interim CEO. Nearly seamless. People filled in gaps and made decisions to show that they were ready to not only think outside the box, but act as if they weren't limited by a box.

 As always, patient care never noticed a difference.  This is as it should be.  On behalf of the Board, I want to thank each one of you who decides to show up every day and focuses on being useful.  At the Board meetings we hear some of the stories and we are impressed by how sharp and dialed in the people who work here are.
